Job Description

Position Summary:

The Construction Manager (CM) is tasked with the oversight of all construction activities for the
assigned region. As part of the Senior Leadership team and under the direction and leadership of the
General Manager and Vice President of Construction, the CM will be accountable for driving revenue
growth and profitability. To ensure the latter, the CM will use their industry knowledge and experience
to mentor and monitor all functions of their staff which includes, but is not limited to: budgeting, sales,
production, customer communication and satisfaction, employee development, P&L review, marketing,

AP & AR. The CM will also be tasked with HR functions as it relates to the recruitment and hiring of
staff.

Skills and/or Knowledge Requirements:

 Must be a self-motivated, self-starter with a strong ability to focus in a task oriented
environment.
 Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures and government regulations.
 Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers and the general public.
 Ability to read blueprints and provide estimates using a variety of platforms especially
Xactimate.
 Ability to read and understand financial statements, budgets and Profit and loss statements.
 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, and area.
 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists.
 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 Ability to drive, travel and personally call on customers; present a clean-cut, professional,
business like appearance to clients.
 Possess conflict resolution skills with a proven record of customer service abilities.

 

Essential Functions:
 Hiring and developing estimators and project managers focusing on their construction and
industry knowledge and acumen with Xactimate.
 Review estimates for accuracy and thoroughness of scope.
 Ensure “Job Books” are created for the Project Managers with all relevant forms and procedures.
 Review projects with Estimators and Project Managers to assure alignment and profitibality.
 Perform job walk with Construction Estimators and Project Managers on all projects over $25K.
Note: this amount may be altered based on work load or nuances associated with a given project.
 Perform weekly file reviews with Construction Team to assure all projects are meeting time-line
and profitability goals.
 Participate in weekly WIP meetings with Corporate.
 Manage workflow, budgeting and overall management of all construction projects.
 Conduct Project Manager File audits to ensure basic practices are being fulfilled.
 Conduct Job Wrap-Up meetings with Project Managers to confirm completion, determine credits
and/or supplements have been captured and recorded; confirm COC’s and all other job or carrier
specific documentation has been collected and disseminated
 Ensure schedule are created, disseminated and updated as necessary.
 Ensure all expenditures are being reconciled in a timely manner.
 Provide all relevant data to the General Manager as directed.
 Conduct quarterly evaluations to assess strengths and weaknesses to determine core
competencies.
 Mentor and train construction team members on best practices and product knowledge.
 Maintain a task-oriented environment and hold team members accountable for results.
