Associate VP Campus Development (Boston)
   

Requirements

A broad range of asset management, development and transactional experience primarily in urban areas (preferably Boston) including:

  • Strong background in property operations, leasing, joint venture structures and the facility development process
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, management and communication skills
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • A collaborative management style to effectively work in both a real estate development and a collegiate environment
  • 10+ years of related experience. BA/BS or equivalent
Job Description:

Under the broad direction of the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance and working closely with President, the Trustees Campus Planning Committee, other senior college administrators and consultants, the Associate VP for Campus Development provides specialized and technical leadership to the college’s campus development master plan. Major responsibilities include:
  1. Work closely with senior administration, and master planning consultants, to guide the continued development of the overall campus master plan.
  2. Work closely with the college real estate advisor to review various site opportunities, acquisition pricing and development potential of each. Work with college leadership to revaluate the benefits and potential for site integration into the overall master plan.
  3. Develop a ten-year student residence hall development/marketing model. In particular give focus to the affordability of various residence hall layout opportunities in relation to affordability, student fees and student demand. Lead evaluation effort of opportunities for both the college and third party development on college land, leased land, newly purchased land.
  4. In conjunction with the college’s team, oversee selection process for architects to design various space development efforts.
  5. Along with other college officials and consultants, integrate planning efforts into various city approval processes.
  6. Oversee the college’s various leased property efforts including oversight of existing space leases where the college is both lessee and lessor.
  7. Work with college finance staff to integrate college Payment in Lieu of Taxes program with the city.
  8. Work with college finance leadership to integrate real estate planning into college overall capital finance strategy including use of long-term debt and capital campaign opportunities.
  9. Work with college facility and capital planning staff to plan, schedule and staff construction of major projects.
