Dear Friends,
Understandably, many candidates who send us their resume do not know the criteria we use in deciding which people we choose to work with. There are several traits, if present, that will cause us to pass on an application (for we would be unable to market such people successfully to our clients). I’d like to share them with you:
1) We don’t place people looking to “change careers”. Our employer clients engage our services to find employees that have already excelled in the role that they are looking to fill. “Career-changers” do not have that requisite experience.
2) We don’t place entry-level candidates, part-time workers or people looking for internships. Candidates must have at least several years full-time experience in their chosen discipline in order for us to work with them.
3) We don’t place people that change jobs frequently. An employer investing in a key hire must feel comfortable that our candidate will remain with that employer for a long time. Candidates that have a history of changing jobs every 1-2 years will likely continue that employment pattern in the future…therefore, they aren’t a good investment for an employer that must pay a fee to obtain their services.
4) With infrequent exceptions, we don´t place the unemployed. These folks tend to send out resumes far and wide, and are frequently driven more by financial necessity than career advancement. Once a candidate elects to work through typical human resources channels, we are unable to help them.
However, we are able to successfully help many experienced candidates with stable job histories in the fields of Commercial & Residential Construction, Subtrades, Real Estate Development, Architecture/Design and Finance. Video Interviewing Helps Candidates Get Hired
Our new S.R. Clarke Video Interview System is now fully integrated with our website. Each candidate that applies for one of our positions now has the opportunity to do a video interview for that position at their convenience. Once completed, the video interview is then forwarded to our recruiting department for review. A camera hooked up to your computer plus a high speed internet connection is required before a video interview can be created.
Basic Video Interview Tips:
· Dress the same way that you would for an in-person interview.
· Make sure your interview environment is neat and orderly.
· Make eye contact with the camera.
· The camera will pick up and magnify all background noises, so make sure you are in a quiet environment.
