Project Executive (Boston)

   

Company:
Mid-size GC experiencing substantial managed growth over the last 3 years serving diverse building markets primarily in eastern Massachusetts. This company has been recently reorganized with a new business model poised for expansion.

Primary Responsibility
To achieve successful and profitable outcomes on all existing projects; position company for future projects and mentor all staff to ensure their career growth.

Project Delivery
To supervise and coordinate a project or multiple projects and their respective team members in a manner that:

  • Ensures client satisfaction
  • Solves problems that can’t be resolved by project team
  • Meets resource allocation needs
  • Meets or exceeds the desired time, budget and quality objectives
  • Achieves the desired minimum company gross profit goal
  • Demonstrates the highest level of job site safety
  • Adheres to company’s best work practices, policies and procedures
  • Ensures accountability of the project management and field staff
  • Leads to repeat business
  • Creates long term relationships with the project Owner, A/E team and their consultants
  • Illustrates company pride, commitment and attention to detail

Business Development
To develop an annual book of business that puts in-place $50mm worth of profitable work. This will be done by:

  • Continuously cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with existing and new Owners, A/E’s, Consultants, and others that influence future project opportunities.
  • Successfully completing all current projects
  • Proactively participating in the presentation and proposal process
  • Attending certain trade and/or industry related events and organizational functions
  • Seeking ways to differentiate our performance and image

Staff Management and Development Effectively communicate with all staff on a regular basis and manage those under you in a way that:

  • Helps them grow, think creatively and make independent decisions
  • Enables them to succeed
  • Holds them accountable for day-to-day performance and rewards them for going well beyond expectations
  • Promotes teamwork and communication
  • Positions each employee to be the best they can be
  • Encourages questions and two-way dialogue
  • Allows them to view you as a leader

Minimum Requirements Preferred:

  • 4-year degree in an accredited construction-related curriculum (BSCE, BSCM, BSAE,etc.) or experience equivalent to a four-year degree.
  • Must have a history of project diversity (institutional, research, ground-up and interiors work) in the Boston market
  • At least 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility with large ground up projects - $50 million +.
  • Must have mastery of the following operational and project skills: project cost, schedule, contract negotiation, bidding process, change order procedure, engineering (including critical lead times), staff needs and availability, job problems and plan of action to correct, jobsite correspondence, and conducting job-related meetings.
  • Demonstrated success in managing or potential to manage: multiple projects and senior project managers, multiple client relationships, project operations without direct supervision and within company policy and practice, total profit and loss responsibility, and movement of personnel among projects and assignments.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and staff development.
  • Ability to manage, lead and interact with a diverse group of people
