IT Director (Metro DC)

Seeking an Experienced Director of IT with demonstrated success in planning, organizing and executing all IT functions for its Rockville, MD, headquaters. The IT Director will be responsible for business plan development, team management and project management and client relations.

Position Description
The primary responsibilities are to direct and manage an IT division; formulate IT policies, procedures and programs; ensure data and system integrity; evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions; and make recommendations for enhancements based upon strategic initiative and directions. Specifically, the IT Director will:

• Develop an IT strategy in support of the companys mission and core objectives.
• Develop an annual business plan and operating budget for the IT division and monitor the implementation of these to ensure that financial targets are met.
• Develop techniques for defining and selecting effective performance measures and then measure IT success.
• Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommend technical solutions.
• Ensure consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining and enforcing standards and procedures to implement technical solutions.
• Ensure optimum utilization and economical implementation of computerized systems, its components, and peripheral equipment.
• Manage computer application enhancements, introductions, and conversions to resolve procedural problems, address compatibility issues, clarify scope and purpose, develop controls, and improve information flow.
• Manage and mentor a strong IT team with the appropriate skills, knowledge, and abilities to be successful in building the companys IT contract portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, MIS or CS. Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years experience in IT sector with increasing responsibilities.
• 5+ years of IT department management experience
• 3+ years of experience in software and database development, preferably in a Microsoft environment.
• A broad understanding of computer systems, application, and operating systems, as well as analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience in implementing effective and innovative software development methodologies in order to manage a System Development Life Cycle.
• Federal contracting experience, particularly with GSA buys.
• Prior experience responding to RFPs and securing new business.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
