Electrical Procurement Engineer (Northern Virginia)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for specifications review, bid preparation, quote solicitation and evaluation, orders placement for materials, submittals review, highlighting variations, material shipment monitoring, and facilitation of communication between site and main office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BS Electrical Engineering
• Preferably 1-5 years purchasing experience in related industry (Fresh Graduates are welcome to apply)
• Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, Access

CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures
• Understanding of material work planning and methods engineering process
• Excellent negotiating skills
• Effective Organizational skills for efficient office control
• Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts

DUTIES OF THE POSITION

• Performing the placement and management of purchase orders, schedules and availability of parts required to meet production schedules
• Negotiating with vendors for the best possible price and delivery date of parts needed for production
• Developing supplier work statements, soliciting supplier proposals, establishing negotiation parameters, developing supplier strategies, negotiating terms and conditions, establishing unit pricing, ordering and scheduling of production first articles, and maintaining current contractual instruments
• Working closely with the Logistics Department to ensure proper supplies arrived
• Tracing delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders and expedites orders as needed
• Resolving discrepancies and obtains credits and refunds in a timely manner
• Monitoring the inventory levels, including cycle counts to ensure accuracy
• Managing supplier performance and ensuring satisfactory contract performance is maintained and developing new supply sources where vendors are inadequate
• Integrating activities with internal customers and suppliers to fulfill contract requirements
• Participating in supply base development, evaluations, supplier performance reviews, and improvement activities
